WaPo’s Meyerson: America’s Missing Pay Raises Are Lining the Pockets of Big Investors


One key reason American salaries are stagnant is because corporations now send their cash back to stockholders in the form of share buybacks and dividends instead of plowing it back into their operations, according to The Washington Post’s Harold Meyerson .

Wages are stuck in the doldrums even though jobs are rising and the unemployment is down. That flies in the face of traditional economic experience, which holds that tighter labor markets lead to higher salary costs, he explained.
