City receives $4.3M from BP


(Photo: Stock) The city of Pensacola is $4.3 million richer as a result of its settlement with BP stemming from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

City Council last week approved a budget resolution to allocate those funds. Of the total $5.3 million settlement, $2.3 million will go toward the city’s many storm water improvement projects, $2 million will go to replenish the city’s Natural Disaster Fund that was depleted after last year’s flood, and a little less than $1 million will go to the lawyers.
